Bobby Skeet Henderson Drummer

About Bobby

Drummer Bobby Henderson was born and raised in Atlanta Ga. Bobby’s musical influences stemmed from his fathers’ (Bobby Henderson Sr) jazz record collection at a very young age. He knew he had a calling for music so he joined the school concert band in the 4th grade as a trumpeter. One day his mother, Daisy Henderson (deceased), noticed that Bobby would always tap out rhythm patterns to music on whatever surface was available at the time. She suggested perhaps he should take up drumming instead of trumpet. Taking his mother advice, he decided to play concert snare drum as a 5th grader. He continued his tenure in concert band through middle and partially in high school. After graduating from North Fulton High School (1983), he attended Fort Valley State College, studying music. At FVSC is where Bobby was introduced to the drum kit by band director/music professor Leonard Giles. This event became a pivotal moment in his life. He participated in marching and wind band for 2 years at FVSC. At this juncture, He decided to serve his country.

After a three year military service stint in the US Army, Bobby returned home to Atlanta Ga in 1989. He began teaching himself and honing his drumming skills. Soon afterwards, he began performing and later recording with a vast amount of churches, artists and bands and many different styles of music which includes: gospel, R&B, Jazz, southern rock/soul and pop. Bobby has performed on over 50 released recordings with various artists. In 2018, Bobby obtained his Associate Arts degree in music from Atlanta Metropolitan State College and is currently in the process of earning his bachelors of music.

Bobby is grateful for his family and especially the support of his beloved wife since 1996, Denetra Henderson. “I am totally grateful to God for all things, who is the master orchestrator of my life. Without Him, I am nothing!”
